While the leaves were turning outside, the inside of showrooms at High Point Market were abuzz with excitement over new collections of furniture, lighting, fabrics and more. After seeing hundreds of new introductions, it was clear a few key trends stood out. The conclusion? We are in for an exciting year ahead. Here are the noteworthy trends our editors spotted at High Point Market Fall 2024.
It's All About Earth Tones
What are the hottest colors of the moment, you ask? The answer is easy: Just look to nature. The most Instagrammable sofa at market had to be at Verellen, where autumn’s tried-and-true colors of mossy greens, golden oranges and warm plums covered a boucle stunner in a hypnotizing ombre effect. The sofa embodies exactly what everyone is craving right now—color that’s invigorating, but ultimately familiar.
Patina Power Is Here To Stay
We all know that something old, be it a vintage chair or a time-worn piece of art, adds a layer of lived-in patina to any room. Nobody knows antiques like Tara Shaw, a New Orleans-based designer and antique export and extraordinaire, who launched a stunning 70-piece collection with Century Furniture, all inspired by the best of Europe, from Gustavian-esque credenzas to Neoclassical Italian side tables, to ornate French case goods. The range is impressive and beautiful and celebrates old and beloved designs that remain relevant today.
Motion Has Never Looked Better
It’s official: in the year 2024, reclining chairs and sofas are chic. Now, with the know-how of companies like American Leather, motion furniture has all the look of a sleek piece of furniture with the comfort of reclined seating. The mechanics are hidden, the technology is improved for weightless relaxation, and most importantly, the silhouettes are fresh and cool.
The Mountains Are Calling
From the Rockies to the Berkshires to Appalachia, there’s no doubt that the there’s something luring about the mountains. (In case you missed it, Luxe just announced its expanded Colorado and The Rockies region.) Old Hickory’s new Lodge Collection, designed in collaboration with Oregon-based designer Max Humphrey, is a celebration of rustic Americana design. The collection is ripe with rugged details, namely the real hickory used throughout the furniture that gives any space an authentic look and feel.
Maximalism Is Having a Moment…
…But for some, it never went anywhere. Each year, Bernhardt taps a designer to reimagine part of the showroom, giving them carte blanche creativity. This year, designer Nicole Fuller had the honors and successfully transported us to Marrakech. Here, Fuller mixed some of Bernhardt’s iconic pieces with rich velvets, a tented ceiling and layered Moroccan rugs, reminding us all that less isn’t always more.
